From gathering receipts to keeping track of accounts payable and getting those quarterly tax filings in on time, overseeing a business's finances can be overwhelming for anyone. But the difference between it being a manageable task (and a possible money saver) and a complete nightmare often depends on the accountant you hire.

At Entrepreneur magazines's Growth Conference in New Orleans this year, CPA and attorney Mark Kohler, spoke about the importance of finding a CPA that is supportive, helps you make good decisions and wants to help you succeed.

"A good CPA should say, 'let's write off everything,'" Kohler said.
